We had a request from a customer who wanted to diagnose an orange check engine light in his 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport. His email was..
My 2018 Dicovery sport has had a diagnostic report done to find out what is causing the appearance of an orange engine warning light. The print out says there is an ECM fault PO49B-OO Exhaust gas recirculation B- insufficient flow detected. Do you know if the LR V3 will show this fault and tell me what needs to be done to correct the fault?
The customer bought the LR V3.0 (as shown below) which allowed him to diagnose this fault. You will see a video below which resulted in the DPF needing to be replaced.
This issue is caused by lack of restriction in the DPF, meaning there is no back pressure feeding to the EGR valve, and this is what triggers the fault code. It is commonly mis-diagnosed as a faulty EGR valve, but the issue is actually inside the DPF, and because the internal components of the DPF system have failed, there is no back pressure, and no resitance within the DPF. So it needs to be replaced.

The tool (we feel) is a must have for any Land Rover owner, or potential owner.
It also serves as a health check tool, allowing the user to diagnose all systems within the vehicle (like engine, abs, airbags, transmission etc) and also carry out a wide range of service functions like DPF regeneration, Oil Service Reset, Suspension Calibration, New Battery Registration and a lot more.
