Mini Cooper Dashboard Light Symbols

Dashboard warnings on your Mini Cooper depend on the Mini Problem. It could be an indicator light for ABS, airbag, engine light or something else. There are many reasons why the dashboard shows warning lights and below is a list of the lights on the dashboard. You might need to buy a scanner online which will show Mini trouble codes & reset the warning light for good!
If you need to reset a dashboard light or diagnose a fault on your Mini Cooper we reccomend the Mini iCarsoft i910 kit from.

If you need a new sensors to fix your Mini Cooper such as ABS sensor, MAF, camshaft & crankshaft, visit www.bavariandominator.co.uk.

The following symbols are all taken from the Mini Cooper models (some symbols will vary slightly, but in general they should all look quite similar)

Mini dash warning light Mini Cooper Battery charge current warning light - this light illuminated during normal operating conditions means the battery is no longer being charged. It could mean that the battery needs replacing or you need to repair/replace your alternator.

Mini dash warning light Mini Cooper Engine oil pressure warning light - stop the vehicle as soon as possible if this oil warning light shows up during normal operating conditions. You will need to check the oil levels and top up as required.

Mini dash warning light Brake warning lamp  - if this light comes on when the handbrake is not engaged you will need to check the brake fluid levels and top up as required.

Mini dash warning light This is the brake warning light for Canadian models (see above)

Mini dash warning light Coolant temperature warning light - if this illuminates during normal operating conditions it means that the engine is tool hot. You may need to top up the coolant, if this does not switch off the warning light we would advise that you contact your local mini dealer immediately.

Mini dash warning light Flat tyre warning light - one or more tyres is not inflated to the correct pressure, pump up your tyres or your driving experience will deteriorate.

Mini dash warning light Automatic stability control or traction control warning light - this could be to current road conditions and basically means that your Mini is not getting the required traction on the road.

Mini abs dash warning light ABS warning light or Anti Lock Braking system warning light - The chances are that you will need to replace an ABS sensor. ABS sensors are quite cheap and can be fitted by any home mechanic. We reccomned you visit Dominator Auto Diagnostics for Mini abs sensors. If you are unsure which mini abs sensor you need you will need to use a code reader which covers the ABS system, we highly recommend using the Mini iCarsoft i910 diagnostic kit.

Mini airbag dash warning light Mini seatbelt warning light - fasten your seatbelt - be sensible :-)

Mini airbag dash warning light Mini airbag warning light. If this airbag light is illuminated during normal operating conditions it means there is a fault within the airbag system. It could be a loose connection, or it could be slightly more complicated - some families choose to disconnect the front airbags because of child seats being placed in the front seats. We have 2 airbag light reset tools for the mini range. If your mini was made 2003 or before you will need the B200 airbag reset tool, and if your Mini was made after 2003 you will need the slightly more expensive, but also multi functional Mini iCarsoft i910 diagnostic kit. The airbag light reset tools will turn off the dash light, and give you a code which can be crossreferenced with the includd code book to find where the error occurs. If you simply reset a loose connection it will not turn off the airbag light, a reset tool must be used.

Mini dash warning light Mini Cooper Bonnet or tailgate warning light - this will light up when the bonnet or tailgate is open.

Mini abs dash warning light Mini Cooper ABS warning light - indicates a problems with the ABS system, and will probably need to change an ABS sensor - see the information above regarding the Anti Lock Braking system.

Mini dash warning light Mini Cooper Service engine soon warning light. This indicates a malfunction within the emissions system. You need to use a Mini code reader to find the fault.

Mini engine dash warning light Mini Cooper Engine light/service engine soon for Canadian models. See above.

Mini dash warning light Mini Cooper Check filler cap warning light - this light means that the fuel cap cover is not fully closed, please check it.
